What We Have and Don't Want

In this crazy whirlwind life we live
that changes day to day,
we find ourselves sometimes mixed up
with nothing left to say.

There are the ones that go about
their day to day routine,
with butterflies and sunny skies
and grass that's always green.

But sometimes farther down the road
with flowers growing tall,
there are the ones that find themselves
entrenched inside a wall.

Why am I here they often say
while looking towards the sky,
so helplessly just standing there
while loved ones pass you by.

You question your existence now
your willingness to live,
of all the things that came and went
of things you could not give.

You hear the story and the tales
of others false and true,
some fell upon the hardened ground
while others made it through.

And in that perfect moment,
of poetry and rhyme,
you simply stand and tell yourself
right now is not my time.

Upon this earth I stand upon
I simply am not done,
I simply will not go away
just like a setting sun.

And with a will ten times as strong
a will of any man,
a battle starts to take its shape,
you give it all you can.

And with the clearing of the smoke
we see a changing of the tide,
A taller stronger you is standing
on the winning side.

Victorious in all respects
the wall you pass on through,
the loved ones that you thought were lost
are waiting there for you.
