Snowflake
So soft, so frail, so quick to melt,
oh snowflake how discreet your lure.
You start to fall so light and soft,
we turn our eyes to catch a glimpse.
Those first few flakes, they pave the way,
they coat the ground and disappear.
Then one by one you start to stick,
we marvel that you're here to stay.
Before we know what's happened,
a white blanket drapes across the land.
Inch by inch things disappear,
and we begin to ponder where they went.
Yes, clever little snowflake,
who can make a pine tree bend.
I bow to your deceptive beauty,
so I too am not engulfed by you.
