My Failed Attempt at a Romantic Sonnet

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Seriously, you’re, like, ten times better.
In Fresno, the sun never seems to stray,
And the smothering heat lasts forever.

Then what about the twinkling starry night?
I think I got it right this time around.
Only a few shine through the city’s light.
You’re special, the only one to be found.

Shall I compare thee to my bad poem?
Awkward and bumbling, but you get the drift.
Never know what to say, our speech broken,
Yet we fill in the blanks and somehow click.

So I’ll give up this failed attempt to woo,
And stick to the simple words: I love you.
