In Eden

I wonder if, in Eden,
blossoms never
fell
and yet trees
were fruitful.

Petals beneath boughs
are poignant,
pale on the dark earth,
yet only a fruitless
tree could
keep the blooms.

Go then
to the waiting earth,
surrender your frailty
for fruit.
