Dance and Drift

The conditions are right
For fluffy flakes so white
Coasting on the whim of the wind
Finding their way to hat and mitten

High above, they dance and drift
For the young a wintery gift
Floating left and right, a swirling feat
Sparkling diamond glints, a morning treat

Wandering about as if not having a care
Landing on tongues to just disappear
Once in liquid form on days of past
Not staying all year, never meant to last
