A Part Of

I’ve had you on my fingertips,
Dripping down these poisoned lips,
Through your eyes and through your soul,
Consuming all that made you whole.
A frightful turn to grab the knife- !
We both had time to take a life.
But thoughts foreseen of future woes
Show that lovers parting create loving foes.
I pulled you back down to this earth-
Revealed your uncut diamond worth,
And when your eyes filled with warm salt tears,
They dripped in reflective pools; reflecting your fears:
To drown in love and hate me so
For showing you the things I know.
Like you said, I am your heart.
Except by you, I'm torn apart...
And when you called upon the knight
I took it as a sign of flight
And brought the day to give you sight,
And did you wrong to make things right.
But now the clock strikes midnight's magic,
In our hearts beat bittersweet panic.
Afraid to commit your life to me,
And mine to submit a wife to thee.
At a standstill in this war,
Stirs an unknowing of what it's for,
Except the push and pull that stings;
The way I loved you that one warm Spring.
